Best Electric Car in Romania has reached its fifth edition, featuring nearly 40 eligible models, from which 8 finalists were selected:

The first electric car produced in Romania – Ford Puma Gen-E

Renault 5 – holder of the most prestigious European automotive trophy for 61 years: European Car of the Year 2025 (where Romania is also represented on the jury of 60 members)

Kia EV3 – winner of World Car of the Year 2025

Hyundai Inster – recently named Best Electric City Car in Romania 2025, a competition dedicated to urban cars under 4 meters

Cupra Tavascan – a representative of the latest design trends of the Spanish brand

BYD Sealion 7 – a spectacular new model recently launched in Romania

Lynk & Co 02 – another Chinese model from the Geely family, designed in Sweden, also newly introduced to Romania

Volvo EX90 – a true benchmark of electric refinement and luxury

Each of these models was presented and tested by Arval / BNP Paribas clients, partners and/or employees, followed by three days of public display at București Mall and two days of test drives across diverse road types (from highways to gravel roads) on a route of approximately 600 kilometers.

During the journey from Bucharest to Covasna and back via Brașov, the 8 participating electric models were charged at key Eldrive locations: Unirea Shopping Center Bucharest and Brașov, Lidl Brașov, Snagov Plaza, and FunShop Park Ploiești – essential charging hubs for a smooth, fully electric trip.

As usual, the awards press conference took place at the Ministry of Environment, attended by Minister Mircea Fechet.

Following the jury vote, the Lynk & Co 02 SUV received the highest score (97 points), closely followed by Renault 5 (94 points), the French hatchback also holding the Car of the Year title for 2025. Third place went to the Hyundai Inster, with 85 points.

BYD Sealion 7 – 61 points

The jury also awarded five special prizes focused on distinct key features:

Best Electric Tech – for most innovative technology: BYD Sealion 7

Best Electric Range – for best driving range: Kia EV3

Best Electric Consumption – for lowest energy use: Ford Puma Gen-E

Best Electric Design – for best aesthetics: Renault 5

Best Electric Premium – for top luxury model: Volvo EX90

Last but not least, the Best Electric City award – recognizing cities with the most developed EV charging infrastructure – went this year to Cluj-Napoca.
