In November, the third edition of the Best Electric Van 2025 competition took place, an event dedicated to electric commercial vans, which has become a key reference in Romania's automotive industry. The event was organized by AutoExpert Media, with support from Arval Romania, the Ministry of Environment, Waters, and Forests, and Eldrive Romania. This is the third edition in which Eldrive provided charging infrastructure for the competing vehicles, further demonstrating its commitment to developing an efficient and accessible charging network across the country.
Ford Transit Courier – Winner of Best Electric Van 2025
During the ceremony at the headquarters of the Ministry of Environment, Waters, and Forests (MMAP), the Ford Transit Courier was awarded the title of Best Electric Van 2025 in the small van category, while Renault Master won in the large van category. In the medium van category, Ford E-Transit Custom emerged as the leader.
These models were rigorously tested on a 300 km route, which included urban roads, national roads, highways, and specific tests for charging and cargo handling. Each vehicle was evaluated based on its real-world performance, demonstrating the advantages of electric vans in facing the daily challenges of commercial transport.
Ford Transit Courier, Ford Transit Custom, and Renault Master each received the Best Electric Van 2025 title in their respective categories.
Special efficiency awards were also presented for:
Small class: Ford Transit Courier
Medium class: Ford E-Transit Custom
Large class: Renault Master
Charging Infrastructure Support – Eldrive Romania's Role
At the event, Eldrive Romania played a crucial role as the charging partner, providing the necessary infrastructure to allow the participating models to demonstrate their range and reliability under real-world conditions. Eldrive's network of fast and accessible charging stations was vital for testing the performance of electric commercial vehicles, contributing to a successful event and the development of a suitable charging infrastructure for Romania's market needs.
Through its collaboration with AutoExpert Media and the event organizers, Eldrive Romania reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and the promotion of electric mobility by offering accessible and efficient charging solutions for all users of commercial electric vehicles.
Integration of Eldrive Stations into the ARVAL Mobility Card System
Eldrive Romania and Arval Service Lease Romania signed an agreement to integrate Eldrive charging stations into the ARVAL Mobility Card, offering access to 5000 charging points nationwide. Roxana Lupescu, CEO of Arval Service Lease Romania, emphasized that this card will be used by companies managing electric fleets, enabling fast and efficient charging for their vehicles. The agreement supports the transition to electric mobility, providing a comprehensive solution for fleet charging management across the country.
The Future of Electric Commercial Vehicles in Romania
Romania is undergoing a continuous transition to electric mobility, and events like Best Electric Van 2025 are crucial for strengthening this trend. As regulations tighten and access for commercial vehicles to urban areas changes, electric vans will become a necessity for companies wishing to remain competitive, economical, and eco-friendly.
Tudor Roșca, Director of the Minister's Cabinet at the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests (MMAP), stated: "Although we are going through a challenging period, Romania remains committed to supporting the transition to low-emission vehicles. We are seeing increased interest in electric commercial vans, a trend that can be further strengthened in the future." In this context, Best Electric Van 2025 was an important step in understanding how electric vehicles can perform under real-world conditions.
Additionally, Florin Micu, CEO of AutoExpert Media, highlighted: "Best Electric Van has become a benchmark for the automotive and mobility industry in Romania. Even in a constantly changing economic context, the interest in electric vans is clearly growing."
Roxana Lupescu, CEO of Arval Service Lease Romania, added: “I am glad that we are once again part of Best Electric Van and that our partnership with this landmark event for the market continues. As seen from the list of electric commercial vehicles entered in the competition, the market is evolving, including in Romania, and the interest in this category is increasing. According to the 2025 edition of the Arval Mobility Observatory Fleet & Mobility Barometer, 9% of companies in Europe already use eLCVs, and 14% plan to add them to their fleets in the next 3 years. Companies are showing interest in adopting new technologies, and the development of charging infrastructure remains a key element in accelerating the transition to fleet electrification. Significant progress has been made, but there are still opportunities for further development to support the expansion of the eLCV segment. At Arval, we actively support the transition to sustainable mobility, including through tailored solutions for electrifying light commercial vehicle fleets. We offer customized proposals to meet the specific needs of each company, whether it is about integrating eLCVs, digitizing processes, or optimizing operating costs.”
