An electric road trip, right in the middle of summer season, from Bucharest all the way to Sunny Beach (Bulgaria), with BYD Seal and Eldrive Romania. A 1,000 km journey packed with everything: smooth roads, unexpected turns, fast charging, scenic views, modern stations, and a resort that sets new standards for regional tourism.

🔋 START: Bucharest – Mangalia
The trip kicked off with a full battery (100%) and a displayed range of 525 km. After cruising on the A0 and then A2 highways, BYD Seal arrived in Mangalia with:
302 km covered
125 km of range remaining
Average consumption: 22 kWh/100 km at 130 km/h — impressive for a performance EV
Despite GPS recommendations, the team took a less conventional route through Pecineaga, which turned into an accidental off-road segment. The result? The Seal held up impressively well, even when coated in dust.
⚡ Charging at Eldrive Mangalia
Since it was peak season, the Eldrive charging location was busy, but he still managed to charge up to 80% — enough to confidently head into Bulgaria without range anxiety.
Civilization, Efficiency & Relaxation
Once across the border, driving became more relaxed. Thanks to speed limits and a smoother driving style, energy consumption dropped to 14.x kWh/100 km. Upon arrival at the resort, the BYD Seal still had over 200 km of range left.

While we were enjoying dinner at the resort, the car was charging:
From 38% to 100% in 1h 13min at a 50 kW station
Final displayed range: 557 km

Departure with 100% battery and 558 km range
Quick photo stop in Adamclisi, then a charging break at the Eldrive 400 kW station in Lehliu
Full charging session took just over 50 minutes, peaking at 155 kW, with an average of 78 kW — a limitation of the BYD’s current 400V platform
With more economical driving, the car could’ve made it home without charging again
Energy consumption:
18.8 kWh/100 km over the full 1,000 km tour
18.4 kWh/100 km over the 1,700 km total driven during the entire period
🚗 Conclusion
Traveling with an electric vehicle like the BYD Seal is not just doable — it’s comfortable, practical, and fully sustainable, especially when you have access to a reliable, fast, and modern charging network like Eldrive Romania and Bulgaria.
